We can’t be happier when we finally fixed this issue. If you’re an european or asian users, you probably have already found out that no “special” character is allows in your database file name or anywhere in the entire pathname. So, if your user name contains one or more of those special characters, you simple can’t have your Pagico database anywhere in your home folder, which is really a bummer. Also, if you have one or more special characters in the titles of your topic groups, well, you can’t open these groups any more, nor can you delete them.
So now, with our upcoming Pagico 4, these issues are no longer problems any more — we’re bringing better unicode support into the Pagico 4, so from now on you can feel free to name your database (and your collections)! Yay!

@Meng
Apropos, talking about file names: I hope you allow long file names to be seen and short notes to be shorter on screen. Could you please make that available via dragging the corner of the file name/note? As said before: make it an option to resize items (to see more or less info) in a grid 9×9 (so far you have 2×2 max – and that only by default depending on item, so not optional
I would really love to make a note and next to it put an illustrative picture!
Thanks for listening and your comments.
@Meng
Correction (again
: by grid 9×9 I meant 3×3 (miscalculated
. So item taking space from 1 grid wide 1 high up to 3×3. Possible?
Quick question: 4.0 will be compatible with 3.3 Right? So full search capacities, reinserting etc.
Btw. that web based CRM system you liked so much has in a standard item set also “add note”. See it, and please implement it!
Thanks a million.
Jozef
Hi Jozef,
Many thanks again for your ideas. I get what you’re saying, and I’ll see what I can do here at this point (kind of too late to add new features into this P4, as we’ve already started some internal tests with almost finalized features).
Stay tuned.
Hey Meng,
Is 3.3 database compatibile with new 4.0 pagico? If yes then how will you “trim down” the bloated 3.3 database for new 4.0’s system? You guys have cut down a lot of files, what will happen with them?
@Meng
Well Meng, ability to assign a note to each item (to assign links through it, tags to files!) and ability to resize the “blocks” (so to logically sort the information) is hopefully not that much work and there is still some time until August’s release
Those are rather cosmetic features that would nicely increase Pagico’s usability. And you said that new P4 should be already real object-oriented, so…
But you know what you can do.
Meanwhile take care.
@Keal,
In order to use v3.x databases with Pagico 4, a database conversion is required. After conversion, the internal file number and the overall database size will be trimmed down because of the optimized database structure. So you don’t have to worry about them — your data is still intact.
@Jozef,
Yes, I do love the idea of adding / associating a note with an object. I’ll definitely try to see if we can prioritize something or not.
Thanks again!
