Okay, we’re back again, borrowing your attention for another few minutes. :-D This time, it’s about a new feature called: “Collection”.

For those who have been using Pagico for some time, you must’ve been very familiar with the “Topic Group” feature, which allows you to add specific topics into groups (looks like folders under the “Data” section), or create smart groups to include topics based on rules (criteria). Just like many others, this feature in the upcoming Pagico 4 is dramatically improved as well, and we’re renaming it to “Collection”. Take a look at the screenshot below.

The new “Collection” feature

What’s new?

Compared to the original topic groups, the new collection feature has the following improvements:

  • Collections are listed in a standalone group rather than under the “Data” section, because:
  • Collections can contain both topics AND contact profiles (in the 3rd screenshot, the “TruGreen” is actually a contact profile).
  • Collections have a new (and nicer looking) tag browser
  • Collections can be re-ordered by dragging and dropping the icons
  • The algorithm of the Smart Collection is greatly improved

There are a few things need to be done for this “Collection” feature before the final release, one of them is to add icons to the list view, so that you can tell the difference between contact profiles and topics.

Hope you’ll like it!

;-)

  1. oooh sweet

so basicly this brings us to GTD’s “contexs”

    Impressive!

Do collections have their own dashboard?

  2. Hi Andy,

No, I’m sorry but currently we have no plan of adding dashboard features into collections.
    :)

“Collection” consisting of multi items as well as it should be part of each section – tasks, people, data, notes etc. – with auto group feature (suggested collection) or selected by criteria (tag). Then phone: would be tag too, as well as “task”. But I have already written you about that earlier somewhere… ;-)
Or make it simple and in “Collection” section allow collection of any selected criteria (like all contacts that include “tag” email address).

  4. @Jozef,

“Collection” consisting of multi items as well as it should be part of each section – tasks, people, data, notes etc. – with auto group feature (suggested collection) or selected by criteria (tag).

Would you like to elaborate on this a little bit? Thanks!

    :)

  5. = To gain knowledge from user’s data = User defined filters (Smart Group style) + Computer generated Auto-filters (like “sort by” feature in People section).

Examples of use (so you get the idea behind it):

Task collection: show me all unfinished tasks that were entered more than month ago
People collection: all contacts that do not have an email entered
Notes collection: all notes including word “Pagico”
Activity collection: those from last week tagged “Pagico”

To keep it simple, yet to make the user smarter, I would start with suggested Auto-groups (like you have now in People >> sort by Importance ) to show how it could be used. User then could hide this auto-group if he does not want to use it and/or create new one by his criteria.

I think intelligence comes from depth of understanding. For that one needs to be able to see from different perspectives the same reality. The best example of “step-by-step narrowed filter”:

Data collection: show me all pictures in DB >> those that were taken last week >> about nature (tag nature) >> excluding blurry pictures (tag blurry) >> excluding those with “note comment” >> including word “me” in the name.

Think how people search in Google to gain greater understanding. Imagine how they would search their own data if they wanted to do the same…

  6. @Jozef,

Hmm, that’s a nice idea indeed. But I’ll need to improve this Collection feature even more… It’s not impossible though. Let me see what I can do here.

Thanks again for the great idea!! ;-)
