Hi folks, as the Pagico 4 development goes on, it’s time to share some of the new exciting aspects with you! This post, being the first of the Pagico 4 Sneak Peak series, starts with something small but useful. That is: the new Date Picker.
In the past, whenever you click on a text box for date, you’ll see a popup mini-calendar. There’s nothing really wrong with that mini-calendar, except for the facts that:
- Once the mini-calendar’s popped out, you can’t write anything in the text box any more;
- When it’s popped out, you can’t move your focus by clicking on somewhere else without picking a date first;
- It doesn’t look good;
- It doesn’t work right on some of the computers using non-english languages.
The new Date Picker
So, here it is, the completely new mini-calendar*. You can freely type in the text boxes, or click on the calendar icon to pick a date using your mouse.
Some of the benefits brought by this new date picker
- It looks so much better!
- It allows you to type in the text box.
- Click anywhere else, or the calendar icon to dismiss it.
- Supported consistently throughout the program (e.g.: it’s also available when editing tasks in the dashboard flowchart).

Next time, we’ll introduce you to a whole new component in Pagico 4, and I’m sure you’re gonna like it!

Hmm, Meng. Prima. That will help. For those little cosmetic features I suggest also to change appearance of picture name from right to bottom. Then you could even fit 3 pics per row. Although would be nice (as mentioned in email) also resize function, so I could make my blog in nice grid format – making big or small whatever (especially needed for those pictures + shortening width of short note to lets say only one third of the screen if I wish so or prolonging a long filename to see more of the name).
But great progress. Keep up a good work adding more features, variability and portability (ever thought of running Pagico from USB stick?)
Yeah, and I like your web page colors a lot. Could you please make it a selectable skin for Pagico environment? Like a new Date Picker. Thanks

Yeah we actually hve thought about the theme changing feature, and we might include it in this v4 release, depending on our develoment pace.

Regarding to the thumbnail size of images, how about replacing the image previews with standard file item mode? That way things may look more consistent and does not take too much space. What do you think about that?

I hope a new feature is to have dependencies. It’s nice to see the ‘graph’ of your tasks and instead of doing the start and end date for each task, would be great to just fly through with how much each task will take, then set up what is dependent on what. That would save a lot of time….and bring that GHANT chart feel to it that us Project folks somewhat enjoy

I agree with Michael. Pagico has really nice GUI, but still lacks a bit on GDI (= graphical data interpretation
) Like to see “amounts” graphically. Bigger more time it takes, smaller less time. Plus postpone indicators on task graph showing progress of the task (could be marked in grey) seen in one line. For example: Task of Mr. Smith – Called Mr. Smith 03. 04. 2009, Call him today for update, and then call him to check if he did the task on 23. 05. 2009. All in one “Mr. Smith” line being able to see the note for each partial task day upon hover of the mouse over the scheduled field.
I consider that very important, for tasks are never that 3-steps simple: schedule on certain time-execute-mark complete, but many times it happens that there are many steps in between. I want to see those and analyze (see the changes in the past, current status, next step(s) and final conclusion date) of ONE SINGLE TASK. = single task tracker.

Please add more support for picking time and hour on which the task has to be performed. Its sorta do-able in 3.3, but not nearly as good as it could be

Yeah, entering time is definitely not ideal. I’ll see what I can do. The reason that a time selector was not added was because we didn’t want to clutter the UI with too many features, and it seemed to us that most users use Pagico to manage tasks without specific time in the most cases.
But again, that’s not a “no” to your request. I’ll get back to you on this topic later.
