Pagico 4: Detailed Enhancements
Pagico 4 was re-built from ground-up to provide better features, stability, and user experience, without cluttering the interface.
It packs with tons of enhancements ranging from User Interface elements to underlying APIs.
Inbox
You have a new Inbox.
In Pagico 4, a new "Inbox" feature is created to replace the original "QuickNotes" section.
Therefore, employing Pagico as your GTD system is so much easier.
The Inbox takes everything.
Unlike the QuickNotes section, the new Inbox feature takes everything: text notes, lists (tasks), and files.
So this new Inbox ideally becomes the first step of your workflow.
No task left behind.
The Inbox item in the sidebar will friendly remind you of the remaining, un-processed tasks in your Inbox. Just like your unread emails.
Capturing data quickly.
A new app called "Pagico Helper" is developed to always stay in the menu bar, allowing you to save notes, tasks and files back into your Inbox whenever you need to.
You don't even need to launch Pagico to do this.
Inbox, universally accessible.
The stuff in your Inbox will be accessible in any database, so you'll never miss a thing. Also, your Inbox is internet-synchronized, so that you can access your Inbox anywhere, with or without your Pagico software.
Getting things done in your Inbox.
Because the Inbox takes not just tasks but also everything else, it behaves like a container for all new or temporary tasks. In most cases, small tasks and things can be done right in here.
Task Management
"Someday" tasks.
Not all the tasks are so urgent or specific, so we call them "Someday" tasks.
Together with the introduction of "Someday" tasks, the "All tasks" view is a lot more improved as well.
A better task browser.
In Pagico 4, the "All tasks" view is improved a lot.
The tasks will be shown in three different panels: Scheduled, Completed, and of course, "Someday".
Data Management
The new Data View component.
A completely re-written Data View component is employed in Pagico 4, providing robust feature set and consistent user interface across the application.
It is available in topics, contact profiles, and the new Inbox feature.
Importing files without changing names.
In Pagico 3.x, imported files are automatically renamed with a unique name to avoid conflicts. But in Pagico 4, the file storage system is greatly enhanced so that files will retain their names.
Dragging list items around.
Ever wished moving one or more list items to another list without re-typing them? Well, with Pagico 4 you can do so by simply dragging and dropping the list item to another list.
Color-coding data objects.
Colors are no longer a privilege of QuickNotes.
In Pagico 4, all the data objects in the Data View component can be colorized. Red for important, or for a specific type of event? It's totally up to you.
Linking by dragging and dropping.
In Pagico 4, you can link to topics or profiles by just draging and dropping. For example, do a search, and drag the item (topics or profiles) into the current topic or contact profile.
It's that easy.
Greatly enhanced contact profiles.
Contact profiles share the same new Data View component, so they'll have lists, notes, individual file attachments, manual re-order, export... you name it.
The new Collection feature.
Re-built based on topic groups, the new Collection feature can contain not only topics, but also contacts. Smart collections are available, too, with much more robust filtering system.
Greatly enhanced archiving feature.
Thanks to the new Data View component, all data objects can be archived with just a single click. More importantly, they can be "un-archived" with just another click. What's even better: the archived items are still full-text search-able.
Greatly enhanced searching feature.
In Pagico 4, text notes and lists are full-text searchable. That means you can get specific tasks in the search result, not just the list / note title.
Cloud Support
Synchronized Inbox.
Being internet-synchronized, your data in Inbox can be accessed anywhere, with or without your Pagico software. The web interface is also optimized for mobile devices. Storage limitations apply.
Syncing with Google Calendar
Through the Pagico cloud service, your tasks can also be two-way synchronized with your Google Calendar account.
Just set up your account info, and let Pagico do the rest.
Simple task collaboration.
Create a task, assign it to others over the network, and receive confirmation when the task is done or updated right in your Pagico.
It's that simple.
Under the hood
Rebuilt from ground up.
After years of updates and bug-fixes, the codes were not as efficient as they could be. With a complete re-factor, Pagico 4 is healthier than ever: better feature sets, unified user experience, and 10% less codes.
Expandable and stable.
Thanks to the optimized software architecture, more exciting features can be planned and added with much less effort, and the stability can be ensured.
Ain't this too good to be true?
A whole new level of storage.
The Pagico 4 is now powered by an industry strength database for data storage, not only making it faster, more reliable, but also making databases up to 50% smaller.
5x faster for online sync.
The new database is also more friendly to file synchronizing applications, as there are fewer files need to be updated.
Normal operations in database will only take seconds to synchronize (tested with Dropbox).
3x faster for backup.
With the smaller database and the new file storage system, the backup process can be up to 3x faster.
e.g.: One of our test databases that contained over 30,000 files now only has 335 files after upgrading.
Unicode characters supported.
With the new database, now unicode characters (such as accented and Chinese characters, etc) can be used in the filename and paths of the databases.
The Unicode support for database names is Mac-only.
