Hey Teri,
Thanks!!
how do you assign a task to a contact?
@dna,
Um, there are many ways to assign tasks to contacts.
1) Use the “Copy to…” command to copy an entire list (could be consist of 1 or more tasks) into the selected contact profile(s).
2) When creating a new task (using keyboard shortcut Cmd + T), click on the text “Inbox” to change the destination.
3) Create tasks (lists) right in the contact profile.
I hope this helps!
Hi Ryo,
my comments:
1. i want to easy assign a task to a person(GTD-delegation) when developing tasks in Topic view(would be even better in Inbox phase, but then the task must be assigned to a Topic also). I don’t want to assign a list of tasks to a certain person(i saw Pagico used to go with @person_name in earlier versions) only the task i just wrote down.
2. it creates a duplicate entry, as I have assigned the task to the topic and to the person.
3. if i create in contact profile AND afterwards assign it to a topic, i get duplicate content also.
Suggestion for a better approach:
- if in Topic mode assigning a task to a contact, the task does not duplicate instead appears in Contact profile as a task UNDER a per Topic tasks list.
@dan,
You surely can do that, without duplicating the task or list. Here’s how to:
1. Write the task / list in the desired topic;
2. When you want to assign this task to a person, write an inline link (in either task title or description) pointing to the person.
3. The task you just wrote will be showing up in the “References” section in the target person.
In this way, you can link to as many contacts or topics as you want.
Let me know if it works.
I hope this is what you wanted to achieve.
Oh, I forgot to mention that to write inline links, you just type things such as [contact name] or [topic title].
There are more ways to create inline links, and if you’re interested, go ahead and watch the 5th episode of the tutorial series.
Hope this helps!
