Pagico running slow on your computer?

We’re working on optimizing Pagico so that it can run faster, more smooth. Some users have been providing similar feedbacks to us for a while.

Why it’s slow while my email client is faster even with 10,000 messages in it?
Simply put, Pagico is a very complex application, so it consumes more power to present you a topic compared to word processor applications, and here’s a basic routine.

1) Load all your segments in the topic;
2) Check if there’s any “keywords” to transform to hyperlinks;
3) If links are found, Add reverse links for the targets;
4) Look for reverse links from other topics and contact profiles;
5) Generate calendar data of this topic, and add them to your overall calendar (.iCal compatible)
6) Format all the rest texts for output
7) Generate modify codes so that you can edit your content just by a click, without waiting.

Actually we’re working on improving the performance of all the above tasks, so we’re expecting a obvious performance improvement.

However…
However, there’s something we can’t change. Some users may have already found out that the TagExplore feature under Mac OS X is a little bit slow — there’s a slight delay when you’re switching among tags. There’s no such problem under Windows, I hate to say this, but the JavaScript engine came with IE on Windows is a lot faster than the one came with Safari (or, technically, webkit) on Mac.

Currently we still don’t have exact timeframe for this upcoming release, stay tuned. 🙂
