The first minor update (still slightly more important than just a bug-fix release), the v4.1 (build 935) is now available for Mac, Windows and Ubuntu! We’re excited to let you know about this since there are some pretty interesting improvements and important bug-fixes in this new version. To get the update, simply go ahead and download.
Here’s what’s new in this v4.1:
- New “Reference” feature
- New Pop-Up menu system
- Enhanced initial registration wizard
- Updated the credits screen
- Fix the russian character issue when recognized by the DataDetector feature
- Fixed a bug that in static collections, files, lists and notes are also showing up in the list
- Fixed a bug that smart collections without “Live Update” option do not save properly
- Tags of topics in collections are displayed in the correct appearance

The new Reference feature
Starting from this version, your cross-reference links (e.g. [Project Title] or [P0002-2491], etc) will automatically will also register as a little footnote in the target topic / profile. And the best part is that you don’t need to do anything to start using this feature — everything is automatic. Nothing to learn, tons of gain. Learn more about this from here.
The new Pop-Up Menu System
With this version, we’re replacing the old DataDetector feature with a new Pop-Up Menu System which is far superior and easier to use than its predecessor, because:
- You can use it anywhere: Simply start by selecting a portion of text.
- It has a very tiny footprint on screen, so it’s not in your way when you don’t need it.
- It is smart: it analyzes your selection and puts the best “next-step action” right under your cursor.
- It is flexible: it gives you many other useful next-step features, such as “Search in Google”, “Create as a Topic” and “Create as a Contact”, etc.

The Inbox Sync feature is not here
You probably have noticed that one of the promised feature, the Inbox Cloud Synchronization, is not included in this v4.1 release. Among all the reasons that delayed the inclusion of the feature, we actually found a way to make the Cloud Sync feature even better in both user experience and functionality. Therefore, we decided to hold on to this thought, go ahead and make it happen before it gets to our users. I’m sure this is going to worth the wait, and we appreciate your patience very much. And: you won’t regret it! 😉
